I'm not a person who always use technology, but my favorite item is my Ipod, because with it I can listen my favourites songs and I use it for sleep.
I get it like a christmas's gift, and it has 64 GB, that's a really big memory for music, but I listen a lot of music and always search for new.
At this time I didn't use it, because I had a problem and the whole music was erased, and I had like 2000 songs and now I don't have time to select each song. But as soon as possible I'm going to add all the songs I love.
I'm not a dependant person of the technology, so I can perfectly live without my Ipod, but sometimes I miss it. Maybe I will add the music soon.

You are right, the music is something very important in some lifes, and an advice for you is that you have to require the help of any friend thta give you some songs :)
